An Appeal to the International Community in view of the escalation of violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
*It is vital to generate diplomatic and political efforts to seek peaceful solutions and build a peaceful future in the region.
*Indifference and silence will only perpetuate this tragedy.
1. It is with deep concern and sadness that we write to you about the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The conflict in this country has led to one of the most forgotten and silenced genocides in our recent history, and we believe it is your duty as an international community to raise your voices and put an end to this humanitarian tragedy that is taking the lives of millions of people.
2. The genocide in the Democratic Republic of Congo has caused
unimaginable devastation for the Congolese people.
Reports indicate that millions of people have died from violence, disease and lack of access to basic services such as clean water and medical care. In addition, it is estimated that an alarming number of women and girls are being raped and subjected to inhuman atrocities.
3. It is essential that you recognise the gravity of this crisis and take immediate action to stop the genocide in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Impunity and external support for the perpetrators of these crimes must not be tolerated.
We demand justice for the victims and the prosecution of those responsible for these heinous acts.
4. We also urge those countries currently supporting the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo to reconsider their position. The international community must work together to ensure that human rights are upheld and the civilian population in the DRC is protected.
5. Finally, from the Platform of Congolese Women in Spain (PMCOE) we call on all citizens of the world to raise our voices and demand an end to the genocide in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Indifference and silence will only perpetuate this tragedy.
6. In summary, from the Platform of Congolese Women in Spain we ask the international community and the countries that support the genocide in the Democratic Republic of Congo to take immediate action to stop this unprecedented humanitarian crisis. It is time for us to act and remember that we are all responsible for protecting people's rights and dignity.
Yours sincerely,
